Why Choose Art Sense?
We understand the power of creativity to create positive change in communities and organisations. Engaging in the arts promotes wellbeing by creating a space for self expression, social connections and building confidence. Studies have demonstrated that arts can alleviate anxiety, depression and stress and therefore hugely impact people’s daily lives. Art Sense is deeply motivated by these purposes, which drives everything we do.
Self Expression
Engaging in the arts allows people to acknowledge feelings which have been hiding in the subconscious. Creative arts allow for a healthy outlet to emotionally release.
Improve Mood
Expression through arts fights anxiety, depression and loneliness and is a route to relieve stress and to relax.
Build Self-Esteem
Creativity provides a feeling of self-accomplishment, which allows people to feel confident and empowered.
Social Connection
Art workshops help to build social networks, battling loneliness and social isolation common in our communities.
As well as individually enriching our emotions and teaching us compassion, engaging in arts has the power to collectively transform communities and organisations, with a measurable impact on our economy, society, and health, as well as company productivity and innovation.
Art Sense and CoCreate have collaboration and coproduction at its core: the social aspects of our workshops and events are a reason we exist. CoCreate, in particular, was founded to help communities feel stronger, by reducing social exclusion and isolation we help individuals to rediscover creativity, thus improving confidence, mood, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Work Related Placement
I am student on my final year BSC Computing at London Metropolitan University having a work-related placement with Artsense CoCreate. I chose this work related placement because of the work is related to my studies and plus the charity is London base which looks at the interest of its community , creating a space and workshop for those with mental health. Having a interest in mental health this was close to my heart and seeing the charity looks after those with mental health issues. Seeing the gallery section on the website displaying expressive arts from those attending the workshop and the attendee’s able to mix together and make friendship which is so important for wellbeing of those going through difficult times especially now during lockdown. The charity provides a safe environment , advice and support to those in need. I thank very much for Patricia for giving me the opportunity to aid in the assignments related to my studies.
I was invited to join a session whilst peeking through the windows. I felt valued and enjoyed the wide range of materials available. My attendance has become more and more important to me over time.
I came because it was advertised as therapeutic. I’ve gained companionships and friendships and found a safe place to discuss with others my loss of a sibling.
I joined this group to build confidence around others as I suffered from extreme social anxiety which led to depression. From being part of this group I have found freedom of self and am more comfortable around others.
